WestJet service is game-changer
This morning WestJest announced it was introducing multiple daily flights to the Canadian Rockies Inernational Airport through an agreement with Pacific Coastal Airlines. The WestJet Link flights will be operated by Pacific Coastal using its fleet of 34-seat Saab 340B aircraft.
The service is expected to be a significant development for the region which was until recently served on the Calgary Cranbrook route by only Air Canada where a roundtrip flight averaged $400. The new Westjet service, which begins March 2018, is offering roundtrip flights to Calgary for $200 and to Toronto for $300.
Other destinations have seen passenger travel double within a few years of new competition and competitive pricing.
