Geographically speaking, Kimberley is situated near the south-east corner of British Columbia, and is just a four hour drive from Calgary, AB; and Spokane, WA. It is located 25 minutes by vehicle from Cranbrook, BC, the regions commerce centre and primary economic hub.
Kimberley resides in a number of regions and sub-regions. Kimberley's area is referred to as the East Kootenays - the eastern portion of the Kootenay Rockies tourism region. The community is perched on the Purcell Mountains (some of Canada's oldest mountains), with views to the Rocky Mountains. It is situated in a forested area, and contains streams and creeks. The St. Mary and Kootenay rivers are a short drive away, along with numerous parks and lake areas.
In addition to all the amenities within City limits, Kimberley is strategically located to facilitate easy access throughout the region and is an easy daytrip to Fernie, Canmore and other locations in the Canadian Rockies, as well as west Kootenay locations such as Nelson, Rossland and the mountains in between.
